GitHub Copilot

by GitHub (Microsoft) · IDE extension, CLI / terminal, Cloud agent, Code review

GitHub Copilot is GitHub's AI coding assistant: inline completions, chat and agent mode in most major IDEs, a Copilot CLI, and a cloud agent you can assign issues to. Free tier available; Pro is $10/month, Pro+ $39/month and Max $100/month.

What is GitHub Copilot?

Copilot works as an extension in VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode, Eclipse and more, and natively on github.com. You can assign an issue to the Copilot cloud agent and it opens a pull request, and Copilot can review PRs.

Usage beyond completions is metered in GitHub AI Credits (1 credit = $0.01); completions and next-edit suggestions stay unlimited on paid plans. The model picker includes models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and xAI.
