FAQ
Which AI coding agent should I use?
It depends on where you work. Terminal users: Claude Code (paid) or OpenCode (free, any model). Editor users: Cursor, or GitHub Copilot if you want the cheapest mainstream plan ($10/mo). For hands-off tickets-to-PRs: OpenAI Codex, Devin or Google Jules. For app prototypes: Lovable, Bolt or v0.
What is the best free AI coding agent?
OpenCode, Cline, Kilo Code and Aider are free and open source — you pay only for the model you plug in (or use local models). Google Antigravity and Jules have free tiers with usage limits, and GitHub Copilot Free includes 2,000 completions and 50 chat requests a month.
How does this recommender work?
Each answer adds or subtracts points based on the data in our tool directory — interface, features, pricing, model support, open-source status and deployment options. Discontinued tools are excluded. The logic is transparent and the data is public at /tools.json.
